My Book

From a Parent's Diary into Kid's story

Earlier this summer I published a book called  "Puzzlesaurus Rex."

This is the first in a series of stories I envision within the World of Puzzlesaurus.

I started working with the concept over fifteen years ago as a new mother learning the ropes of parenting a "different" child. While shepherding my son through the Northshore Schools, I wondered if I was the only parent struggling to understand my child. Many pages of notes were written but I never really captured the topic's nuance.

More recently, I realized the book did not need to be for parents alone.  It needed to teach both children AND their parents. Talking with my friend Elaine Cook, I realized the medium was meant to be a children's book.

Set for the book preview at the 2025 Woodinville Summer Family Day event, June 28th 2025.

Sharing with Woodinville - Part 1

In June 2025, I finally had the book written and began working with an illustrator.  We had Elaine's initial character studies and a few scenes sketched out.  What better way to test the concept than with a public reading to the perfect audience of Woodinville children and parents.

During the first ever Woodinville Summer Family Day, I previewed two scenes from the book.  I learned a lot of what worked and where the story could be polished.  Gratifyingly, several parents were eager to read the full book.

Sharing with Woodinville - Part 2

With my artwork finalized and the first printing run hot off the presses, I was able to celebrate my official book launch at the Woodinville Summer Family Day "Daytime Disco" in August 2025.

Together with the illustrator (Lilia Jackson), we gave away and signed 300 copies to the families of Woodinville at this amazing event.
